The Irish Girl Guides (IGG) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering girls and young women to develop their full potential as “responsible citizens of the world”. We operate through a network of over 400 units across Ireland, led by volunteer leaders, delivering non-formal educational programmes. We are committed to upholding all relevant legislation and codes of good practice.

 

The Finance Manager / Senior Financial Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing our financial health, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring full compliance with fiscal and charitable regulations. This is initially a part-time role, expected to be 17–20 hours per week, with flexibility to increase over time if organisational needs and funding allow. The role supports the CEO, Board, committees, and wider team to make informed decisions and secure long-term financial stability.

 

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Manager works closely with the National Treasurer, volunteer leaders, and staff. You will provide clear financial visibility, strategic advice, and robust systems to support the organisation’s mission.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  •           *Financial Planning & Budgeting: Coordinate the annual budget process, monitor performance against budgets, update forecasts, and work with committees to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  •           *Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare accurate, timely internal management accounts and external statutory reports (including SORP-compliant statements for charities). Analyse data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for cost efficiency.
  •           *Cash Flow & Investment Management: Monitor income and expenditure to maintain sufficient liquidity; manage short- and long-term investments to balance returns and risk.
  •           *Risk, Compliance & Controls: Identify and mitigate financial risks; maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies; ensure compliance with Irish charity requirements, the Charities Regulator, Revenue, and other legal obligations. Advise the Board and committees on financial performance, risks, and strategy.
  •           *Funding & Grant Management: Oversee all funding streams, ensure donor-restricted funds are used appropriately, and prepare reports for grant bodies and donors; support grant administration and compliance.
  •           *Policies & Training: Develop and update financial policies and procedures; ensure staff and volunteers are supported to understand and follow financial policies and procedures.
  •           *Team & Stakeholder Management: Provide line management, guidance, and development for finance administration staff.
  •           *Liaise with external auditors, banks, and financial partners.
  •           *Strategic Input: Contribute to organisational planning and discussions on financial sustainability.

Person Specification

Essential

  •           *Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or extensive relevant financial experience.
  •           *Strong knowledge of financial systems, internal controls, and reporting standards.
  •           *Proven track record in managing all aspects of finance: budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
  •           *Experience working with grants, budgets, and restricted funding.
  •           *Excellent communication skills, able to engage clearly with volunteers and non-financial colleagues.
  •           *Highly organised, analytical, and solution focused.
  •           *Working knowledge of Irish charity financial regulations (Charities Regulator, SORP, Revenue rules).
  •           *Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Desirable

  •           *Experience supporting or training volunteer treasurers and committees.
  •           *Alignment with the mission and values of a volunteer-led youth organisation.

 

Terms & Conditions

  •           *Hours: Part-time, flexible, hybrid working — 17–20 hours per week, with scope to increase over time subject to organisational need and funding.
  •           *Salary: €60,000–€70,000 pro rata, depending on experience.
  •           *Contract: Annual renewal, subject to funding.
  •           *Location: Dublin office with hybrid working arrangements.
  •           *Leave: 21 annual leave days + 5 company days, pro rata.

Regional Development Officer (RDO) Eastern Region– Part Time (Maternity cover)

 

Irish Girl Guides is recruiting a Temporary Regional Development officer (Maternity Cover) for the Eastern Region, working under the direction of the Regional Commissioner and the Regional Team, the role is to develop and support Guiding and to provide advice and practical support to volunteers in the designated area.

 

The Irish Girl Guides’ mission is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. This is achieved by the volunteer leaders running a non-formal educational programme with 500 plus units across all counties in the Republic of Ireland. The organisation has charitable status, is a CLG and works to ensure it is compliant with all relevant legislation and codes of good practice. The Region is run by a voluntary led Regional Committee who are supported by the RDO.

 

Location

Based from home but travel to various parts of the Region. Travelling to support local IGG Units is an essential part of the job. The Eastern Region covers counties Dublin, Wicklow and parts of Laois and Offaly.  The RDO also attends meetings/trainings with the other RDOs employed by the Irish Girl Guides.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

Operational – Regional Level

  • *To liaise with the Regional Commissioner and Regional Team to agree a workplan.
  • *To understand the workings of Irish Girl Guides including policies and procedures to support the role.
  • *To help organise and be part of Regional meetings, Events, and Trainings and projects when required
  • *To take responsibility for Communications within the Regions

 

Volunteer Support

  • *To provide support to existing IGG Units in the Region through direct and indirect contact
  • *To visit and encourage new Units, arranging in-place training during the initial 6-8 weeks period.
  • *To identify and help set up training courses when required.
  • *To support new adult Leaders in both existing Units and during the setting up of new Units, initially through weekly contact during meeting times.
  • *To support new Leaders through programme planning and an introduction to the Guiding programme.

 

Recruitment & Retention

  • *Recruitment and Retention of leaders and members by encouraging the development of the different Branches within a locality
  • *To promote Guiding in the wider community as appropriate
  • *To support Units, Districts, and Areas in running parents’ evenings and other recruitment initiatives.
  • *To liaise with other, IGG Regional Development Officers and attend RDO meetings as and when arranged.

 

Other Duties

  • *To carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO and/or Management. Committee from time to time.
  • *To attend training sessions and staff days as required.
  • *To participate actively in Support and Supervision sessions as well as the annual appraisal and planning process.
  • *To complete timesheets and a work plan which is reported on throughout the year to the Regional Commissioner and CEO.
  • *To liaise with National Office staff as required, keeping communications fluid.

 

Conditions

This will be a 6-month contract covering maternity leave. The hours of work are 18 hours per week, and the rate of pay is €15.86 per hour.

  • *Good oral, written, and presentational communication skills.
  • *Flexible working hours are required, including evenings and weekends to facilitate meetings with volunteers and young people
  • *Strong interest in Guiding, youth work, working and supporting young people.
  • *Commitment to the aims and methods and acceptance of the values of Guiding.

The Volunteer Recruitment Campaign: IGG is launching a volunteer recruitment campaign to build sustainable pathways for Guiding for girls and women by increasing the number of volunteer leaders. This role will run from April 2025 to December 2025.

 

Volunteer Recruiter Role: As a Volunteer Recruiter, you will play a vital role in engaging and recruiting passionate individuals who can contribute to the success of our Guiding programmes.

 

Key Responsibilities: Work with the campaign coordinator and recruitment team to deliver the projects/ Campaigns KPIs.

Outreach: Implement creative outreach strategies to reach and recruit potential volunteers. This includes content for online platforms and leveraging social media.

Part Time – 4 Days

  

Irish Girl Guides (IGG) is recruiting a manager for the Guide Shop and Distribution Centre based at National Training Centre in Tallaght.  The Guide shop sells uniforms and badges plus other merchandise primarily to members of the organisation via online and click and collect sales. The focus of this role is the administration of the systems and processes behind the retail work with emphasis on accounts admin.

The Irish Girl Guides’ mission is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world.  This is achieved by the volunteer Leaders running a non-formal educational programme with 500 units across all counties in the Republic of Ireland.

  

Key objectives of the role

 

Accounts Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day finance tasks: processing invoices, verifying accuracy, timely payments, purchase orders, and data entry (Sage 50)
  • Sales Order Processing including stock and purchase management
  • Build supplier relationships and source new suppliers
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations, salary data, and Finance Committee reports
  • Supporting year-end accounts prep for auditors
  • Monitor and propose price changes in stock
  • Bi Annual Inventory Check
  • Liaising with the Senior Accounts Administrator to resolve payment discrepancies or issues

  • Previous accounts experience essential
